If you ask anyone who has been connected with the auto parts field of the automotive industry at any time since 1950,you’ll find that the name Wannenburg’s has immediate recognition.
The foundation of the Wannenburg Group was laid by Daan Wannenburg in 1948, working in the scrap metal business. Two years later, in 1950, he established Wannenburg Spares.
One of his sons, Hendrik Wannenburg, identified opportunities in the caravan and camping industry and established Wannenburg Caravans, as well as a new Mazda franchise in Pretoria North and later expanded to the Gezina area where he bought the AF Sigma agency in Voortrekkersweg, Gezina.
The company identified a shortage of used spares in the industry and decided to import replacement body parts from East Asian countries to supply the growing demand for vehicle body spares.
All branches specialise in specific areas: three in used body and mechanical spares for passenger vehicles; one in 4X4 and bakkie spares; another in replacement body parts and automotive paints; a rebuild vehicle sales department; and the last in good quality used vehicles.
