Mr Steve Alset is a former Eskom employee with service of 10 years. He left Eskom in March, 2003, to venture into construction business. In 2004, he realised the lack of locally grown live line contractors in the country. The market at that stage was flooded with by those of international descent, so he took that as a challenge.

Mr Alset put the company together immediately with little difficulty being a skilled worker in this field. In his own words,” I visited few established contractors in a search of information. Some were helpful, some were not. I kept on hearing that this is a white man’s job, black people are afraid of live line and electricity.

Armed with a National Technical N5 qualification in electrical engineering, solid field experience and a variety of Leadership courses, I went through intensive bolls to the ground training with Eskom Middleburg, after that I was evaluated extensively, with no holds barred, and I was declared competent, and authorized to perform Live Line”.

From there Mr Alset managed to recruit unemployed high school leavers and gave them the opportunity to pass through the rigorous Eskom evaluation. They are now all authorized to perform Live Line work techniques.
