Aluminium has been used in the transport with success in Europe since 1930 and has proved to have similar wear resistant characteristics as steel. The specific weight of aluminium (2.7g/cm3) is ⅓ of that of steel. The following are advantages of aluminium:

  • In the transport industry, aluminium allows clients for higher profit margins due to the substantial increase in legal payload;
  • Reduced fuel consumption;
  • It is corrosion resistance and therefore do not need to be painted (environmental hazard);
  • Lightweight yet not sacrificing wear resistance; and
  • Aluminium is green.
    • 75% of aluminium produced since it has been discovered is still in use today
    • Recycling aluminium saves 90-95 percent of the energy needed to make aluminium from the ore

Alutip is situated in Waltloo Industrial Area.
